8ft shipping containers

8ft shipping containers also known as “mini cubes” are the smallest sized shipping containers we supply and are becoming an increasingly popular option for our customers. They are a great solution when space is at a premium but have more storage capacity than you might actually think. Popular uses for our 8ft shipping containers include the storage of garden equipment, tools, furniture, documents, sporting and outdoor equipment and more. A good point of difference with the 8ft is that they are shipped inside a 10ft container meaning it’s the only container we can actually say arrives with its own packaging and is “brand” new.

Frequently asked questions

What are 8ft containers used for?

As previously mentioned, 8ft containers are a great storage solution when you don’t require something as big as a standard 20ft container. They also make great containers for modification and are regularly converted into offices, kiosks and retail spaces.

Should I buy an 8ft or a 10ft container?

It really depends on how much you have to store and the length of what you are storing. We would suggest measuring what your largest items are to ensure they fit inside the 8ft container. There is quite a difference in price between an 8ft versus a 10ft container so if everything looks like it will fit into an 8ft container then it’s definitely the better value for money choice.

Do you sell second hand 8ft containers?

At this stage we do not sell second hand 8ft containers. The reason is because 8ft containers are still a very new design and no second-hand market has yet developed in NZ. We envisage having some ex hire stock to sell in by 2023.

Can we arrange our own transport?

Yes, you can if you are buying your container. If you are hiring, we prefer to arrange transport so we know where the container is placed.  If the transport is arranged by the customer for hire, we would usually charge a bond. Please remember we do deal with a lot of transport companies and in most cases would be able to offer the best possible transport rate. Chains are also required to transport an 8ft shipping container!
