Open Side containers
When two doors simply aren’t enough, Open Side Containers are the perfect option to meet your needs. Open Side Containers give you full side access, making them the easiest of all shipping containers to load/unload, either by forklift or hand. For this reason, they’re commonly used in the transport of goods and for storing oversized items, especially when frequent access is required. They are also an ideal choice for container modification due to their versatility.
20ft Open Side Container
Our 20ft Open Side containers are designed and constructed for the transportation of general cargo at sea and on land (road or rail) throughout the world and will be suitable for the environmental conditions imposed by those modes of transport. All materials used in the construction are able to withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -40C to +70C without effect on container’s strength and water tightness
- Constructed with steel frames, fully vertically corrugated steel side and end walls, die-stamped corrugated steel roof, wooden or bamboo flooring, corrugated double hinged doors
- Made from extremely tough Corten Steel
- Exterior x 3 coats of paint. Interior x 2 coats of paint
- Marine Plywood Floor or Bamboo Floor with a Polyurethane Finish
- Floor Height of 292mm
- Lockbox x 2 – For added security
- Bi-fold doors that open up the entire one side. Doors when fully open fold back 270 degrees.
- Full door seals to ensure weather tightness and vermin proof.
- Forklift Pockets -For onsite moves
- Easy Open Door or Double Locking Gear

40ft Open Side Container
The 9ft container is a specialised size, standing almost the same height as a full size shipping container, with a fraction of the footprint.
Ventilated and weather tight, they have a lockbox for added peace of mind – perfect to pair with an OZBOX shipping grade padlock for an extra layer of security!

How do Open Side Containers work?
Open Side Containers work by having double doors on the longer length side of the shipping container. These doors are then typically secured by a lockbox.
Are there different Open Side Shipping Container sizes?
We currently stock Open Side Shipping Containers in 20ft and 40ft sizes and they are also available at standard height (8’6”) and high cube height (9’6”) for a bit of additional storage space.
What are the advantages of open side shipping containers?
As previously mentioned, side opening shipping containers are extremely useful for loading/unloading oversized items. It also has the added advantage of being able to load/unload regular-sized items more quickly given an entire side of contents can be accessed at any one time. You also have a bit more freedom and space to rearrange the contents inside your shipping container (without unloading everything first).
How can Open Side Shipping Containers be modified?
With full side door access as a 20ft shipping container or a 40ft shipping container, these types of containers can be modified for a variety of purposes. They make great mobile retail spaces with customers able to freely enter and browse within the space. They are also ideally suited as modified workshops where tools and projects can be easily moved in and out. Recently, they’ve also become popularly used for Trade shows and events for those that frequently participate in these throughout the country.
